Rewriting Stories That History Forgot
This panel considers how historical fiction can reimagine familiar narratives, giving agency to voices often silenced or overlooked. How can this genre intervene to retell history from new and exciting angles? What responsibilities do writers face when fictionalizing real people and events? Panelists will discuss the creative and ethical dimensions of rewriting the past, share their experience working with archival materials, and offer insights into the power—and limits—of narrative reinvention.
